About

Moving Still Media examines digital media creation and how digital distribution is changing the face of media, with an emphasis on the transformation from print to electronic publishing and still photography to motion visuals.

TV has long defined the style and form of motion content, but this is changing.  Not only will the new internet distribution channels demand different approaches with motion content, but print brands with their new-found digital freedom will establish demand for yet another type of motion content — one largely based on the mood and feel of still photography.  But in motion.

Yet still images will always be a big part of the landscape as well, with a wider range of applications than ever before.

The tools we use are being re-invented and merging into hybrids. The platforms through which we receive media are going digital opening up new possibilities along with some limitations, at least in the short term. Everybody is feeling their way in the dark.
